What is fear?
False Evidence Appearing Real.
The truth is that 99% of the things I personally was afraid of at some point, didn’t happen. And if you went back in time, I am sure you would come up with the same insight.
Fear is actually a product of your brain which is designed to protect you. Everything that is new, challenging or out of the ordinary frightens you because you don’t know how to manage it…yet. When fear comes in, it paralyses you and makes you unable to move forward. But even though it tastes, smells and feels real, it is just an illusion.
So how to deal with it:
- Don’t ignore the fear, acknowledge its presence.
- Accept it and allow yourself to go through it.
- Ask your brain: Is there a different way I can handle this situation?
Keep in mind that everybody is scared of something and fear is actually not a bad thing. It is a ringing bell which alarms you that there is a decision you have to take, a thing you need to change.
When you go through the 3-step process your brain will align with better solutions and it will provide you new ways to overcome fear. But what happens if you do nothing? Well, fear turns into suffering.
So feel the fear and do it anyway.
Let me know: What are your fears? What is your process of accepting them? What questions do you ask your brain?
